Know Before You Go
Remote Medical Support are delighted to be a partner of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Know Before You Go campaign
The FCO’s Know Before You Go (KBYG) campaign was launched in June 2001 and is ongoing. It is a consular awareness / market transformation campaign that aims to promote safe and trouble-free travel amongst Britons by promoting pre-travel preparation. The campaign also aims to set realistic public expectations of consular services.
Many UK travellers are unnecessarily putting themselves at risk, simply by failing to make the right preparations before they go abroad. Whilst catering to all UK travellers, KBYG research has shown that particular groups of travellers experience unique consular problems.
For example, younger travellers are the least prepared amongst UK travellers and efforts to communicate to them have been made through gap year specialist travel companies and universities. Hen and Stag Party goers are another niche group who cause a disproportionate amount of consular problems because they are often ill prepared before they travel to their destination.
With this in mind, and in an effort to make the most impact with the resources available, a decision was taken to work more consistently, but not exclusively, with particular groups of travellers.
